What is the HUD Youth Homelessness Demonstration Project?
The HUD (U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development) Youth Homelessness Demonstration Project (YHDP) is an initiative aimed at addressing youth homelessness in the United States. The YHDP is a competitive grant program designed to support communities in developing comprehensive and innovative approaches to prevent and end youth homelessness.
The program focuses on serving individuals between the ages of 14 and 24 who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless. It encourages collaboration between various stakeholders such as nonprofits, government agencies, and community organizations to create coordinated systems of care and support for homeless youth.
The YHDP provides funding to selected communities to implement and evaluate innovative strategies and models to tackle youth homelessness. These strategies often include a combination of housing assistance, case management, education and employment support, mental health services, and other supportive services tailored to the unique needs of young people experiencing homelessness.

An Introduction to the Key Stakeholders Involved in the Project.
The entire CoC is involved with the YHDP process, starting with the Board of Directors. Members of the Board of Directors will provide support and guidance throughout the YHDP campaign and process. The CoC will also be working with the Child Welfare, Runaway and Homeless Youth Providers, government partners and Foster Adopt organizations. The Youth Action Board of the CoC will be walking along, providing guidance and direction the entire way. Finally, we have an amazing HUD technical Support Team that will be with us for the three years of this grant. All of these stakeholders will have a generous hand in the development, execution and expectations of the grant process.
